Well it’s been almost half a year now since we wrapped up The Great Ride of China and we’ve been pretty happy with the results of our fund raising efforts. The goal that we set for ourselves was to raise enough money to support two schools for a full year, which we calculated at about $19,000 USD or $9,500 per 90 child school.
As you can see from our sidebar donations meter, though we haven’t quite managed to reach our goal, we still managed to raise over $18,600 USD (or ¥113,460 RMB). The Free Lunch for Children program provides lunches to schools in rural China at $0.50 per lunch which means that we’ve been able to raise enough money to buy over 37,200 meals! So thank you to everyone who donated to this cause and help us get a little closer to our goal.
Charity Auction with Free Lunch
Last month we were very happy to take part in Free Lunch for Children’s 3 year anniversary down in Guangzhou. It was a big celebration and a fun event to be a part of. We were also very excited to have the opportunity to auction off a CF650TR, the motorcycle model that we took around China last year, that was generously donated by our sponsors CFMoto. The actual motorcycle that we took on our trip we have donated back to the factory for research and promotional purposes, but in exchange they provided the latest model of the bike for the auction, which was sold for ¥45,000 (about $7,300) at the event. That was the last major fundraising event we had planned to take part in though, and so now after this week we are going to be closing down our PayPal donations. So in these final days, if you haven’t donated yet, we’d really appreciate a donation of even just a couple of dollars to help us get the last leg to reach our goal of supporting two schools for a full year! If you’d like to learn more about the charity, you can head over to our Donations page or click the donate button in the sidebar to donate today!
